Hunting as a means for urban deer management is clearly on the rise around the nation. But in Indiana, an assistance program unlike any other is being implemented.

And it’s assistance with dollar signs attached.

“I think we’re innovative or we’re crazy,” said Chad Stewart, a deer biologist with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. “Certainly there are other states that have urban deer management programs. The bottom line is we think hunting can solve a lot of these problems these communities are experiencing if they can just get the hunters in there. We’re basically putting our money where our mouth is.”
