Meet The Host(s)

Joe Thomas

Joe Thomas

Joe Thomas had the rare fortune of growing up among some of bass fishing’s best. At the age of 18, this Cincinnati native won the 1980 Ohio B.A.S.S. Federation Championship. Almost overnight, Joe went from being an amateur angler studying Fisheries Biology in school to a legitimate professional, beating-out several seasoned competitors. From there, he never looked back.

During his twenties, Joe competed in two professional bass fishing circuits and qualified for the prestigious Bassmaster Classic four times. When he was 28 years old, Joe won the 1990 Red-Man All-American Championship Tournament in Buffalo, NY. This time, his championship came with a cash prize of $100,000.

While Joe continues to compete in tournaments and circuits across the country, he does not limit himself to working as an angler alone. For years, Joe produced a regional fishing program in his native Ohio. He also wrote a book about his experiences as a tournament competitor called Diary of a Bass Pro. That book gives an inside look at the lucrative fast-track of competitive bass fishing and highlights the difficulties of life on the tournament trail.

Adding to his long list of accomplishments, Joe has hosted two programs on Outdoor Channel for several years. On Stihl’s Reel in the Outdoors, Joe Thomas travels North America with friends and fellow angers sharing tips and secrets learned from over 25 years on the pro tournament trail. “The reason I do this show,” explains Thomas, “is because I want to do something different. I want to see why Americans absolutely and undeniably love fishing.”

Joe's NASCAR-like Outdoor Channel Boat and Truck are fixtures at many trade shows and promotional events nationally. His one-of-a-kind rig is recognizable wherever it goes. He currently resides in Ohio with his beautiful wife Diane, and three wonderful children, Ryan, Reanna and Gracelyn.

Fish Fishburne

Fish Fishburne

Fish Fishburne has been deeply involved in the outdoor industry for over 20 years and has appeared in over 25 major Sports Show markets across the country. His fun-loving personality, combined with his reputation as a champion angler, draws quite a crowd! Serious fishermen are drawn to his winning technical tips, children love his zany entertaining style, and women are charmed by his sense of humor. (At least he seems to believe it...)

Starting in 2010, Fish began hosting the hit series "Ultimate Match Fishing," Fishburne brings a new and different look to sport fishing viewers through his ability to combine entertainment and education. This "edutainment" style brings a much needed breath of fresh air to the fishing public.

Mark Randolph

Mark Randolph

Referees. As far as we know, no other fishing tournament has one. And that's really not a brain stumper, because no other fishing tournament needs one. But, UMF is different. Without the services of Referee Mark Randolph, Ultimate Match Fishing would be completely out of control. According to "THE REF", "My job is simple. I watch the anglers and wait until one makes a stupid mistake, then I get to do what I love more than anything in this world. I fire them up as loudly as I can. Nothing gives me more joy and pleasure than blowing the whistle and watching a guy come right out of his shoes. David Walker, Gary Klein, Aaron Martens, I don't really care who you are. If you cast across the line, if you land a fish over the line, if you simply cross the line with your rod in hand then I will call you. You can argue, whine, moan, throw a fit. Doesn't matter. I'm the final word, period. I'm the judge, the jury, and if need be, the executioner. And why even bother? After all, I haven't missed or made a bad call yet. And I'm really looking forward to this season." This season is going to be fun... really fun!
