Season: 2013

Old School Elephant

Roosevelt, Hemingway, Ruark and countless others, considered the tented safari the only way to hunt the Dark Continent. So then did series host, JEFF RANN, when scheduling a mid-winter Elephant hunt with long-time clients Steve LeBlanc and Brad Severs. LeBlanc has already taken his elephant, as we team up with Severs for his. In a tented camp you are literally living with the animals, and your hunt begins when you walk out of your tent. The elephant are plentiful, but Brad is looking to break the 70lb ivory barrier...no small feat in this day & age!

From Father to Son

After more than 30 years as a professional hunter (PH), Jeff Rann has hunted with everyone from kings to cops & aristocrats to airline pilots...but he really enjoys having hunted with fathers and now their sons. Such is the case with Jerry Backman. Jerry has hunted with Rann before at his 777 ranch in Texas, but this time it's for a big, bruising, Botswana elephant...and to make it even more challenging, he's going to attempt to take two of them on a 14 day safari. Keep your fingers crossed.

4th Time's the Charm

Colorado native Tom Behunin eats, sleeps and breathes hunting. From whitetail to sheep to moose, Tom has put most North American big game animals in his sights. Having made dozens of trips to Alaska though, taking a big brown bear has always eluded him. Guide Ron Gilson, of Westwind outfitters is hell-bent on changing that auspicious record on this trip to the Port Allsworth region. Bears are being seen, but Tom has his heart set on a big, 9 foot Brownie...and nothing smaller will do. This is a go for broke hunt, in the unforgiving majesty of Alaska.

Black Death

The African buffalo's well deserved nickname perfectly describes the demeanor of this charter member of the BIG 5 club. Of the 5 subspecies on the continent, the CAPE or SOUTHERN buffalo is the largest and most aggressive and, the subject of today's installment of DEADLIEST HUNTS. Learn why famed hunter/writer Robert Ruark wrote 75 years ago, “Once you've hunted him, you are dissatisfied with other game up to and including elephant.”

Elephant-Texas Style

What turns a couple of west Texas whitetail and mule deer hunters into first-time elephant hunters? Simple...a visit to PH Jeff Ranns' booth at the Dallas Safari Club's convention. That's all it took for Amarillo ranch owner Rick Leverich and friend Sheree Lucero, to plan a two week safari with Rann in Botswana. Home to Africa's largest bulls. The unanswered question is...will they both have the guts to stand face-to-face with 6 tons of pissed-off elephant? Watch and see!

See Spot Run

Demonically cunning & daring...uncommon sense of self-preservation...stealthy disappearance...THE LEOPARD HAS NO EQUAL. Truer words have never been penned, as you'll witness on today’s episode of DEADLIEST HUNTS. Leopard are more often than not, thought of as punishers, not man-eaters. 20th century hunter Jim Corbett however, killed 14 confirmed man-eaters, with a death toll over 1,000.  Profession hunters claim that an attacking leopard dishes bites and cuts requiring 100 stitches per second to an entire hunting party. Sounds like fun, huh?

Family Affair Elephant

Mom & Dad, Robyn and Will Waldrip, believe in sharing their hunting adventures with the family. So when they booked a trip for Robyn to go elephant hunting with host, Jeff Rann, there was no question the kids were going along to Africa as well. But elephant hunting is deadly serious business, and while out in the bush, the kids would stay with Franny the nanny. The group got into elephants mere minutes from camp...after several turn-downs on smaller bulls, their luck was about to turn and events were about to get crazy.

Bear Necessities

Bears are animals that both childhood, bedtime stories and adult nightmares are made of. From a cuddly child's "teddy bear", to a ferocious 10 foot tall Alaskan Grizzly...humans have been both fascinated and terrified of "URSUS" for millennia. On today's DEADLIEST HUNTS, our fearless hunters come to terms, face-to-face, with one of the world's most unpredictable and deadly land carnivores. This is pulse-pounding, adrenaline fueled, excitement in the extreme!!!

Passing on the Passion

Ask any elephant hunter what they are thinking about even when NOT ELEPHANT HUNTING, and they'll tell you, "their next elephant hunt". It's that addicting!!! And so what good father doesn't want to pass that addiction on to their sons? That's this episode of DEADLIEST HUNTS...long-time elephant hunter Brad Severs is taking his son Chris on his first elephant safari. It's to none other than Botswana's famed CT-7 concession. A place where Brad himself has taken 80lb ivory. Let the addiction begin!!!

Best of Botswana

This is the final hunting season for any animal, "in the wild", in the country of Botswana. Political pressure & animal activism has won out...and one of Africa's greatest animal success stories in wildlife conservation will be no more. We'll take a look back at decade’s worth of some of the greatest hunts ever captured on video with professional hunter Jeff Rann and some of his contemporaries and relive the hunting experience that was once Botswana. She will be missed by all who ever hunted this spectacular country.
