Thoroughly contemplating home invasion scenarios with immediate family members and formulating a strategic plan of attack to ensure safety for all doesn't make you a pessimist, it just means you value life. Today on The Revolution with Jim and Trav presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network, we'll dissect the dark underworld of home invasions, burglaries and what it takes for you and your loved ones to persevere and ultimately stay alive. So, what is the best handgun for a home-defense situation? Are there key features to look for in a self-defense shotgun? Should you have a designated safe room in your home? Is actively pursuing the perpetrator(s) a good or bad idea? We'll answer those questions and more, and hopefully by the end of this week’s broadcast you'll have the foresight to devise a fail-safe plan to thwart any would be home intruder’s plans.

Michael Bane of  The Best Defense and Shooting Gallery, seen exclusively on Outdoor Channel, phones in to chat with the boys about home-defense and what action should or shouldn't be taken by the victims themselves. Michael is deft in the realms of self-defense and is touted as one of the world’s most brilliant and experienced home-defense experts. He has literally been saving lives by educating his viewers with commonsense, methodical steps that actually work, and as a true testament to Mr. Banes prowess, Paul and Kristan Sadler from rural Clay County Iowa, skillfully implemented his precise life-saving tactics during a recent home invasion and they were awestruck by the outcome of his meticulous master plan. Michael stresses for all families to have a designated "Safe Room" and a direct route for everyone to take to get there. He says that as soon as you think a home invasion is underway, you need to immediately arm yourself with a firearm and phone, then rally the troops, head for your "Safe Room" and phone the police. Mr. Bane adamantly advises his pupils to never seek out the assailants during an assault, but to rather stay put and guard your 'Safe Room" with any means necessary. This is one Revolution exclusive that you certainly don't want to miss.

Daniel Cox is the Senior Product Manager for Handguns at Remington. Daniel joins Jim and Trav this week to talk about the RM380. This micro pistol hits the mark when it comes to easy concealment and exceptional shooting bundled into to one package. Daniel explains the design process of the RM380, and says that they wanted it to be convenient enough to carry that the owner wouldn’t leave it at home or in the vehicle. It’s small enough to fit into your pocket, but not punishing to shoot. Designers of the RM380 looked at a wide variety of hand sizes and the ergonomics of holding and shooting a small gun to come up with a design that makes it small, light and easy for anyone to carry. Daniel says the RM380 is a great choice for those looking for a concealed carry or personal defense gun and they only thing better than the performance of this micro pistol is the affordable price tag attached to it.

Silencer Shop’s very own Social Media Manager, Jeremy Mallette, is a highly skilled marksman and quite savvy in the exciting world of shooting suppressed. Jeremy calls Jim and Trav to run-through the benefits of having a suppressor and how it will aid its owner in a burglary and home invasion situation. For the welfare of the victim(s) it's essential for them to stay calm, alert, and fully aware of their surroundings with their senses heightened, but none of that is possible if they've been blinded by muzzle flash and now have intense ringing in their ears. The average 9mm ranks in at an astonishing 160db, but if suppressed it lands somewhere near 132db - this translates to the noise produced by an adult clap. Obviously, this enables its user to take full advantage of their natural hearing abilities and to be cognizant of present danger, which is critical in a home invasion. Another perk of shooting suppressed is the reduction in recoil which converts to greater pinpoint accuracy and ultimately less money spent on ammunition. Now, if you've ever entertained the thought of purchasing a suppressor, you need to checkout and contact the friendly pros at Silencer Shop and they will patiently answer all of your questions and help you through the whole buying process.

Monty Embrey is the Manager of NRA’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge. Monty says that each year kids go through hunter education courses across the country, but there is a void in the safety skills they’ve learned and the field exercises like marksmanship that still need to be mastered. Kids who come out of hunter education courses understand the safety precautions that need to be taken when handling a firearm but they have so much more to learn. The NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge provides the training necessary to foster the next generation of safe and responsible hunters. Once a youth has completed a hunter education course they are then qualified to take a Youth Hunter Education Challenge course where they will be trained and tested in four different disciplines: .22 rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and archery. They can participate and hone their skills year after year until the age of 18. To find out more listen this week and head to www.nra.org to find events in your area.

Tim Brandt is the Director of Marketing for Taurus Firearms. He’ll join this week’s discussion about home and personal defense and highlight two great options from Taurus. First he’ll discuss the Millennium G2 which has become widely popular because of it’s unbelievable price. It may be affordable, but it doesn’t sacrifice quality or performance though. Tim says that there are smaller guns on the market, but the Millennium G2 is still easily concealed and it is an overall great gun for working on the range, practicing your shot or taking care of business in the event you have to use it to protect yourself. Tim will then switch gears and talk about the “Taurus Judge” their ultimate home defense firearm. The Judge offers versatility with its capability of chambering both .410 shotshell and .45 Colt Ammunition. The combination of ammunition gives you the ability to tackle both short and longer distance encounters with confidence. Tim will explain why The Judge makes a great night stand gun for any home owner.
