This week we're talking all things firearms and shooting. Tune in to The Revolution as we discuss the how-to’s of choosing the right handgun with Eric Rice of Sticky Holsters, big bore handgun hunting with Michael Bane, host of Shooting Gallery and The Best Defense, firearm and ammunition trends for 2018 with Eric Poole of Guns & Ammo and much more. Listen to The Revolution this week as we discuss what you need to know to advance your shooting skills. The Revolution and this Bullseye Guide to Firearms and Shooting is presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV.

Choosing a handgun is a very individual decision. Eric Rice of Sticky Holsters joins The Revolution this week for a comprehensive approach to selecting the right gun for you. Eric tells Jim and Trav that it’s important to establish the gun buyer’s wants first: do they want a semi-auto or revolver, all metal or polymer, external thumb safety or internal safety. These questions help to significantly narrow the field of options for the purchaser. Eric will discuss the misconceptions that surround the choice between semi-autos or revolvers, as well as the pros and cons of each. He’ll also take a look at the ever-expanding market of concealed carry firearms and the explosion in micro pistols. Eric says that these small frames are advantageous in many situations, however users need to be aware that the grip is much smaller and the felt recoil will be more. When it comes to caliber selection, Eric says that many people equate bigger calibers to more knock down power, however that theory doesn’t always ring true and he’ll explain why. Finally, Eric will discuss the versatility of Sticky Holster products and how you are able to carry in a variety of different ways and positions using the same holster. He’ll also talk about their newly released Belt Slider, Mini Mag Sleeve and Pouches and their brand-new product offering that debuted this week at SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Tune in for great tips in this special two-part interview.

Handgun hunting has seen a tremendous rise in popularity in recent years, however the skills required to hunt with a handgun, mirror those of bow hunting, it takes dedication. You have to have the ability to close the distance on the animal you pursue and a renewed commitment to woodsmanship and hunting skills that have been, in many ways, forgotten about with longer range hunting. Michael Bane, host of The Best Defense and Shooting Gallery on Outdoor Channel, joins The Revolution this week to talk big bore handgun hunting. When it comes to choosing a handgun worthy of your big game pursuits, Michael discusses barrel lengths and explains why he prefers a shorter barrel for convenience. In regard to caliber, there are plenty to choose from, however Michael tells Jim and Trav that much like archery, the goal is to drill a big hole. With that in mind he talks about the advantages of .45 and .50 caliber pistols and explains his fondness of the .454 Casull and others. Michael will also talk handgun sights and why he is a proponent of good red dot sights. And finally, he’ll discuss shooting from a supported position and why shooting sticks are an essential for him when handgun hunting.

Eric Poole is the Editor of Guns & Ammo magazine and co-host of Guns & Ammo on Sportsman Channel. Tune in as Eric joins The Revolution with a look at the Ruger American Rifle Ranch in 450 Bushmaster. Eric tells Jim and Trav that this rifle has revived a cartridge that has been around since the mid 2000’s, but never gained a huge following. However, with its capacity to take on dense brush and its knockdown power, it has caught the attention of hunters across the nation. Eric will also discuss some trends he is seeing for 2018. Tune in as he talks about chassis guns and how they aren’t just for competitive shooting anymore. He’ll also talk about the continuing sweep of the 6.5 Creedmoor across the industry and how a competitive shooting cartridge has turned into a wildly popular hunting load. Finally, this year marks the 60th Anniversary of Guns & Ammo Magazine and Eric will tell us what they are doing to mark this special occasion.
