We’re targeting a bona fide ham slam this week on The Revolution with Jim and Trav. We’ll be joined for an in-depth extended interview by Gregg Ritz, host of Hunt Masters, plus Stephen West Jr. from the all-new series West of Texas and Zach Waterman, Nosler’s Public Relations Manager, for a little feral hog Piggin’ Out. Our topics for discussion will be preferred hog hunting calibers, dependable ammunition, how-to’s for using crossbows and knives for harvesting, plus where to scout, how to track and cook them. We’ll even dive head first into sniping feral hogs from helicopters and hot air balloons. The Revolution is presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV.

Gregg Ritz is the host of Hunt Masters on Outdoor Channel. He is a respected and experienced hunter who has traversed the globe pursuing a plethora of different game animals. This week, it’s all about feral hogs. Gregg will discuss spot and stalk hog hunting with tips on where to locate hogs during different points of the day and how to navigate baited or high-pressure areas. He’ll also talk about his preferred method for hunting hogs, big bore rifles. “This is the time when we can break out the .45-70, the 450 Marlin, some of those calibers that are more mid-range calibers – but big bullet, heavy hitting ammunition where you can break these hogs down.” Choosing the proper caliber and ammunition to penetrate a boar’s shield is crucial, as is shot placement and Gregg will offer his advice on making the best shot possible to reduce a precarious recovery or long tracking job. Stay tuned for part two of Gregg’s interview for a bit of trivia, great tips on how to cook hogs for delicious table fare as well as safe handling practices when processing and handling feral hogs. Listen now!

Feral hogs aren’t huge animals but they are tough. So, it’s important to go into a hog hunt adequately equipped with the proper cartridge and special attention paid to bullet performance. Zach Waterman, Nosler’s Public Relations Manager, is here this week with a variety of options for hog hunters. Zach says that hunters need a bullet that is really going to hold together well in order to penetrate a boar’s shield effectively. He’ll explain the birth of the Partition Bullet and how it, as well as their bonded bullets, like the AccuBond, fit the bill perfectly with the expansion you need. Tune in for a detailed overview of Nosler’s selection of hog capable ammunition and cartridges, plus get a look at the Model 48 Western rifle.

Stephen West is the host of the brand-new series West of Texas airing on Sportsman Channel. West of Texas takes viewers on adventure with extreme hunts and showcases the life of outfitter and guide, Stephen West. Tune in this week as Jim and Trav talk with Stephen about one of Texas’ most plentiful resources, or pests, feral hogs. With no season and no bag limits, hog hunting is a favorite for many hunters and there are plenty of ways to pursue them. While helicopter hunting may be exciting, Stephen says he is more concerned with quality rather than quantity and prefers to sit over bait. “If you want to kill a really big trophy size hog, sitting over bait can be pretty grueling and take a long time, but you can kill a really big hog doing that.” Tune in for more hog hunting tips from Stephen West.
