Realtree® at Talladega Superspeedway
COLUMBUS, Ga. (October 25, 2010) – Continuing a relationship that dates back to 1997, Realtree®, the creator and marketer of the world's most versatile camo patterns, will serve as the primary sponsor of Richard Childress Racing's (RCR) No. 29 Chevrolet team with driver Kevin Harvick for the October 31 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) AMP Energy 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
Realtree, based in Columbus, Ga., began its involvement with RCR in 1997 on the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. It began its relationship with Harvick at RCR in 1999 and continues today as an associate sponsor of the No. 29 team. In addition, Realtree president Bill Jordan and RCR president and CEO Richard Childress have been personal friends for decades through racing and their love of the outdoors.
"It is always a pleasure to work with Richard and Kevin," said Bill Jordan, the founder of Realtree®. It doesn't matter whether we're in the field or at the track. Their passion is contagious. And this Talladega race comes at a perfect time for hunting and racing fans.
"Of course, we still manage to get Richard, Kevin and lots of others in and around the NASCAR garage out for quick hunting getaways this time of year, and we've already had an incredible start to fall 2010. Outdoor Channel viewers are going to see some great hunts with their favorite NASCAR drivers starting in July 2011."
Heading in to Talladega and coming on the heels of a strong third-place finish at Martinsville Speedway, Harvick and the No. 29 team are currently third in the point standings after 32 of 36 NSCS races. With four races remaining in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup they are 62 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson and 56 behind second-place Denny Hamlin.
"It's great to have Bill Jordan and Realtree on board next weekend," said Harvick. "They have sponsored me at RCR since 1999, when I ran the ARCA Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, so I look forward to driving the No. 29 Realtree Chevrolet in the Chase at Talladega."
The Realtree®/RCR relationship has included a previous primary sponsorship at Talladega Superspeedway in NSCS competition when adorned the hood of the 2008 entry driven by veteran Mike Wallace. In addition, Realtree® has served as both primary and associate sponsor in various series for both Ty and Austin Dillon.
The strong presence in NASCAR has continued under the Realtree® Outfitters banner this season with five races in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with JR Motorsports. The famed logo will also make a late-season appearance on the hood of the Harvick-owned No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado to be driven by Elliott Sadler.
Realtree® has enjoyed a long-term relationship with Chevrolet as well including a variety of programs in conjuction with the National Wild Turkey Federation, Delta Apparel, Inc. and the long-running "Realtree's Driven to Hunt" television series.
Jordan and Realtree® have strengthened their ties to NASCAR by sponsoring several hunts for some of NASCAR's star drivers over the past several years. Jordan has shared his elk and deer hunting expertise in New Mexico, Montana, Iowa-just to name a few-with the likes of Harvick, Sadler, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Martin Truex, Jr., Ryan Newman, Bobby Labonte and others.
