American Gun Dog follows a young, die-hard hunter who travels the country to encounter legendary hunting lands and to meet some of the nation's top dogs and handlers.  American Gun Dog pushes the edge, shooting in the most wild and remote locations imaginable, and hunting the very best areas each species has to offer. 

“We try to push the threshold of the hunting story,” said Harley Jackson, host of American Gun Dog.  “We do different things.  We chase wild birds and prey that have not necessarily been filmed before, like chasing blue grouse at 10,000 feet.  It’s kind of hard-core as far as bird hunting goes.”

To add interest to more popular hunts, such as upland birds and waterfowl, the show uncovers rarely seen scenarios and locations.  In other cases, AGD films unique breeds and hunts, such as Appalachian Turkey Dogs for fall turkey hunting, Beagles on their chase for rabbits or French Britneys in the Arizona Desert.  In each situation, the show brings forth the unique regional flavors and traditions of each pursuit.
