Jimmy Big Time
Jimmy Big Time presented by Polaris

Jimmy Big Time, Outdoor Channel’s first-ever scripted comedy program, follows the exploits of Jimmy “Big Time” Miller; the self-described “Father of Outdoor Television.” The show highlights one man’s quest to become the greatest outdoor television host in history. Shot in mockumentary format, Jimmy Big Time is a hilarious and irreverent look at what happens behind the camera in the highly competitive world of outdoor television.

The Reason Outdoor Television Was Invented

Without exaggeration, Jimmy Big Time is the greatest outdoor show ever produced for the medium of television. Period. Hosted by Jimmy “Big Time” Miller – the world’s foremost authority on hunting, fishing, trapping, field dressing and snowmobile maintenance – Jimmy Big Time provides a no-holds-barred access look at what it takes to produce the best, most-watched, technically-advanced outdoor program in the universe.

About Jimmy Miller

If Ghandi, Mike Tyson, Mother Teresa and Abraham Lincoln had a child that was pretty good with a shotgun, that child would be – Jimmy “Big Time” Miller. Miller is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery and tied together with a bow of awesomeness. He has called himself “The Father of Outdoor Television” for many years and encourages the countless fans he encounters throughout this great country to do the same. He is currently the executive producer, on-air host and director of the hunting/fishing/shooting television program, Jimmy Big Time – scheduled to air in 2009 on Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader in Outdoor TV.

Like many great Americans before him, Jimmy Miller had an unremarkable childhood in which remarkable circumstances were thrust upon him. Born in Clearwater County, Minnesota (“Source of the Mississippi”), Miller spent his childhood learning the ways of the land. When he was only five, young James Miller – while fishing with friends and family one morning – came up with the phrase, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” The Chinese would have you believe that they came up with that “proverb.” They didn’t... Five-year-old Jimmy Miller made it up. In the years to come, Miller was also the first to introduce phrases such as: “my bad”; the ironic use of the phrase “Good Times” and “Uh Oh…Spaghetti-O’s” into the lexicon.

Although never actually tested in a scientific setting, Jimmy Miller had an IQ that was deemed “too advanced” for entry into nearby Pine Technical College. Shunning the restraints of academia, Jimmy Miller decided that his intelligence, intuition and outdoor skills would be best served in the only true place for a man of his intelligence and desire: as an unpaid intern for St. Cloud Community Access Television, Channel 8.

It was at the community access level that Jimmy Miller learned the inner workings of show business. As cameraman, apprentice editor and field producer for such local outdoor favorites as Hook it Up! with Ben Bainbridge, Reel It In! with Ken Sampson, and Cast it Out! with Troy Kirk, Miller soon learned that in order to become the greatest outdoor entertainer on the planet, he’d have to make a move to the front of the camera. Borrowing the station’s equipment for the weekend (and taking his friends Alex and Chuck along with him) Jimmy made history by filming 26 episodes of his new show, Don’t Rush It! with James P. Miller in two days. The shows were an instant success, and Jimmy never looked back.

It is not an easy task to be the executive producer, host and director of the most important local-market-turned-national outdoor television show in the world, but Jimmy “Big Time” Miller relishes the challenge. The strength of his millions upon millions of loyal fans and the humility and heart of a champion are the secrets of “Big Time’s” success.

Outdoors 10 Best
Outdoor's 10 Best
What are considered to be the top 10 duck hunter’s dream hunts?  Where are the 10 best elk destinations in the country?  What animals make up the deadliest hunts ever?

For decades, outdoorsmen have been hotly debating questions like these in base camps and trophy rooms around the world.  In 2009, Outdoor’s 10 Best will provide the answers in an exciting and fast-paced documentary countdown format from number 10 all the way down to number one. Utilizing one of the largest collections of HD outdoor footage in the industry (from Orion Multimedia) and expert opinions from the country’s best outfitters and adventurers, Outdoor’s 10 Best promises to be appointment television for Outdoor Channel viewers.

Hosted by country artist Kristy Lee Cook – no stranger to top tens herself as a finalist on last season's American Idol – Outdoor's 10 Best will showcase some of the most heart-stopping outdoor footage and trusted opinions from the world's most knowledgeable experts in the industry.  Salem, Oregon (and log cabin-residing) host Kristy Lee brings her country charm and outdoor passion as on-air host and ringmaster of each episode.

In addition to competing on Idol, touring with the "Idols Live" stage tour and television hosting duties, Cook also finds time to create music (her album "Why Wait" hit #8 on the US Country Charts) and create her own charity (The Kristy Lee Horse Heaven Foundation specializes in caring, saving and finding homes for displaced horses).

“She has a deep passion for hunting and horseback riding,” explains Producer Kevin Fay. “There is obvious crossover between her budding country music career and the outdoor adventure genre.  Her honest love of the outdoors comes through the screen and engages the audience.“

In season one, the show will take on topics such as "Best Whitetail Destinations,""10 Greatest Mountain Hunts,""10 Greatest Hunting Lodges" and the "10 Deadliest Hunts."

ABOUT KRISTY LEE COOK

At first glance, Kristy Lee Cook seems like the quintessential girl next door. With her sunny smile, long blonde hair, passion for horses and deep-rooted love of country music, she could be your local rodeo queen or an aspiring recording artist paying dues at the local watering hole. However, spend any amount of time around the young singer, and it’s obvious there’s so much more than meets the eye.

The Oregon native took a major risk when she sold her favorite horse to raise the money to travel to Philadelphia and audition for American Idol. Once there, in a sea of pop star hopefuls, she chose to sing “Amazing Grace.” Cook’s gorgeous rendition of the classic hymn earned her a ticket to Hollywood, where she finished seventh on last season’s FOX-TV competition.

Looking back, she says that her time on American Idol taught her some valuable lessons. “The main thing you have to do is be yourself and be confident in what you’re doing, because it shows if you’re not,” she says. “I just took that whole experience, and I’m going to use it in the future. Anytime I’m in a bind, I’ll pull out the toughness and perseverance. It was a hard experience, but definitely worth it.”

Kristy Lee Cook is the girl next door and a little bit of a tomboy, too, with a competitive spirit and determined attitude that make her a winner. “I’m the kind of person who doesn’t give up, and I don’t like to quit. I’m kind of stubborn that way,” she admits candidly. “I’m very competitive, and I want to win. I knew I had it in me to make it, and I was just waiting for my chance. It’s a cowgirl thing—you can’t give up, and you have to be tough. That’s always been my thing.”
