We flew from Lake Albert one hour to Lake Victoria to the Ssese Islands. Beautiful rain forest ... birds everywhere-parrots and all kinds of egrets here. The landing strip was on one of the islands there and no roads or anything; no people. We had to walk down through the jungle to the lake where there were boats waiting for us. It was jungle right down to the water. We drove boats for an hour to another island-the biggest island-there is actually a road, a couple of vehicles, and a beautiful lodge with a spectacular view. We're going to be hunting Ssese Island sitatunga. Hopefully we'll be the first hunters to get a Ssese Island sitatunga in the last 45 years. There's only ever been only six taken and recorded. They're in James Mellon's book, "Africa Hunter" one of the greatest books on Africa. He got one, C.J. McElroy got a couple of them; literally only a few hunters who have ever gotten one of these animals. Corey Knowlton, myself, and Corey's dad, Larry, are all going to be on stands tomorrow in the swamps hoping to get one.
I got an orabee this morning at Lake Albert, great footage, and we got a lot of fantastic footage of various animals. When we were flying over here we were in two airplanes following each other at 8,000 feet. All of a sudden a black mamba came out of the cowling on front of the other airplane and started crawling across the front window and was still hanging on at 150 mph. Then the wind finally blew him off the airplane; he fell off 8,000 feet hopefully to his death. So they are very lucky he didn't come through the vent inside the airplane. Pretty crazy!
