Great day today. I went out with Eva for about six hours this morning and I got a big blue wildebeest. We had two cameras running, Eva was running one of them actually, and it worked out where I made a perfect shot. Ran about 70 yards and tipped over dead.
I also caught two huge lizards inside the blind today. One was a big gecko that promptly pooped all over my hands. I know that gecko poop is the stinkiest thing ever. Couldn't get the smell off. No water or anything inside the blind.
Tomorrow we head for Uganda ...!
Two days later ...
We're in Uganda staying in beautiful thatched roof lodge and cabins right on the shores of Lake Albert. We landed yesterday from South Africa and were picked up and driven six hours. We got in at 2 am. and got up at 6 a.m. to go hunting.
Great day. Game everywhere. One of the best deals for hunting East Africa, probably the best deal. We must have seen 1,000 Ugandan kob, which have only been allowed to be hunted starting last year and the biggest warthogs I've ever seen in my life. They weigh up to 300 pounds. They look like little red rhinos because the mud is red that they are bathing in.
Got a beautiful Ugandan kob about 23 inches which will be top 5 or 10 all time book for SCI. Tried to get it with bow, but used muzzleloader when we ran out of time. Then Corey Knowlton (the Professional) got a nice one with muzzleoader. I also got a huge warthog. Saw lots of Nile bushbucks. Really good beautiful camp. Outfitter is Bruce Martin.
Tomorrow we're going for Nile bushbuck, orabee and bush duiker. Then we'll be leaving here and heading for the Ssese Islands. It's a small group of islands in Lake Victoria, and we'll be hunting Ssese Island sitatunga, and we'll be the first hunters to do so in a long time ... something like 40 years. We know of only six Ssese Island sitatunga that have ever been taken by sport hunters. Lake Victoria is huge, close to the size of Lake Superior!
